My journey in psychiatry has been shaped by clinical practice, academic medicine and a continuing curiosity about the complexities of the human mind.

I completed my postgraduate training in MD Psychiatry at the Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences Kashmir (IMHANS-K), Govt. Psychiatric Diseases Hospital, Government Medical College Srinagar (J&K, India), a centre of excellence under NMHP, Government of India. I got an experience that provided exposure to a wide spectrum of psychiatric illness and diverse clinical settings.

My professional work has since continued across patient care, research and academics. Alongside clinical psychiatry, I have developed a strong interest in scientific writing, research methodology and medical publishing, with involvement in research publications, conference presentations, editorial work and peer review.

I have also worked at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi as a resident. I see psychiatry not simply as the treatment of symptoms, but as a discipline that requires an understanding of the individual behind them—bringing together neuroscience, medicine, psychology and the circumstances in which people live.
